I feel as though my peer review style has remained the same throughout the semester. I go into it to just read and react to the paper, so my peer review mainly consists of what I am thinking as I am reading. A lot of the time I usually ask “how are these ideas related,” “I feel like this segment of text could be moved somewhere else,” or “This part isn’t really clear to me so make sure to explain fully.” Those are a generalization of what I usually try to write when peer reviewing. A specific comment I left on a paper by Jackson Townsend which read “The word ‘somewhat’ conveys to me that you’re not completely sure within your reasoning here. Persuade the reader to think the way you think.” I feel like this is one of my stronger comments left for guidance on making sure you sound confident in your ideas. I wanted to make sure that Jackson was either completely solid in his reasoning for the idea he wanted to get across, or if he wasn’t to just scrap the idea. I left a comment on a paper by Khloe Rapp that was about the last 3 sentences of a paragraph. In short, I told her that those last 3 sentences didn’t really connect to the rest of the paragraph and could possibly be their own paragraph. This was a strong comment both for organization and evidence purposes. She didn’t give the proper evidence for the idea she presented at the end of that paragraph, and therefore should have organized those sentences into a whole new paragraph.
